Errybody on this blog get tipsy: Spiked cherry limeade recipe

My husband and I visited Joe's Crab Shack a few weeks ago. It was...interesting. The food was great but as we were leaving some surly women pointed out that there were ants on the table next to us (there were) as they were about to be seated. I don't know about you but if *I* noticed ants on a table in a restaurant I would immediately leave as I recoiled in disgust not request a different table. Nasty! But maybe it's a testament to the food? SO good even ants can't stop you from eating.

There wasn't much we could do since we had already eaten our food, which was fabulous surprisingly enough, but I won't return to that location despite what my husband says. He *really* liked his food and apparently an ant infestation is not a deterrent.

BUT

They have this mason jar spiked cherry limeade that is to.die.for. I couldn't stop thinking about it so last week my husband kindly picked up a few ingredients for me and I started tinkering.

Here's what I came up with:

Spiked Cherry Limeade Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Smirnoff Cherry Vodka
  • 4 oz. Sprite
  • 2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice (one large lime/I have also made it with store-bought lime juice & it tastes great but I prefer fresh)
  • Maraschino Cherry Juice to taste
  • 3 drops Target/Market Pantry Liquid Water Enhancer in Cherry Limeade Flavor*

Directions:

  • Mix liquids.
  • Pour over ice
  • Garnish with lime slices & a few cherries

Makes one drink

That's all it takes to have your very own grownup super tasty spiked cherry limeade at home. Tastes even better in a mason jar but I left them all at home. Woe is me. This drink makes me wish we had a backyard and a fire pit. Maybe next year.

Enjoy and let me know what you think.

*So, the bottle clearly says not to use in alcoholic beverages so do so at your own risk (it contains caffeine so my guess is they don't want people being irresponsible and getting all crunked up like people used to on Red Bull and vodka. I can only handle one drink so it isn't a concern for me but if you're planning on having a few of these you can leave out the drops and it tastes just as good. I just like the bright red color it adds. You could use food coloring or even more cherry juice. Have fun experimenting.*
